Taylor (Las Vegas: Beehive Press, 2009) Volume II of the Moulin Rouge History Book is fashioned much like the original Volume I book with a compilation of all pertinent news stories relating to this famous hotel. Many attempts by various promoters to bring the hotel back from its "lock up limbo" are described in detail. Even a Native American Indian Tribe was involved in the crowd of suitors. Those readers interested in a watermark effort to kill Jim Crow housing at the major Las Vegas hotels will find this story interesting. Those who have watched the spectacular metamorphosing Las Vegas will be entertained also. The final curtain call was perpetuated by a couple of homeless individuals who committed an act of arson. Excellent police work found them. A full recap of the fire and aftermath events is an important part of Volume II of the Moulin Rouge Hotel History book. 318pp Softcover $24.95 per copy + $4.95 shipping/handling
Moulin Rouge Hotel History: Volume I A collection of historical articles and files from the collection of Richard B. Taylor (Las Vegas: Beehive Press, 1997) This book presents a collection of newspaper stories as well as a variety of historical documents about the Moulin Rouge hotel, covering the years 1955-1989. Local Las Vegan, Richard B. Taylor, published this book in an effort to record the history of this resort before it is lost and forgotten. His interest was engendered by the fact that at one time he was the operator of the hotel. All of his involvement is explained in the book. The book is an interesting record of that great transition time when society was changing into a mode of civil rights. It is a "must" for those interested in "black studies". 262pp Softcover $24.95 per copy + $4.95 shipping/handling |
